Building my Dream: It's a Miracles!

This is very nice tank. Your posting answered my question of Miracles Aquariums vs Reef Savvy. I am going to go with a Miracles tank and borrow your knowledge when working with Miracles

Some bad news. One of the new rock anemones had a partially protruding stomata this morning. Later this afternoon tissue on its column had deteriorated. Dont expect this guy to make it. I know i didnt damage its foot during transport or acclimation. Actually, as seen in previous post looked good last night.

Awesome build! Have you ever attempted to turn off or cycle the skimmer to see if your algae refugium would handle the load?

No. I do think i would want to. I have it on a dry skim and am actually very lax regarding emptying and cleaning. I have it on a dry skim and only need to dump and clean about every 2 weeks even though i know a clean skimmer is more efficient. Another reason is its the only time that the wife complains about the tank- smell of skimmer when i clean it.

I know alot of reefers dont believe in uv sterilazation. My opinion is i know its not a cure all, that if u have parasites, uv sterilazation will not eliminate but if it can help prevent a total outbreak and provide a better healthier environment then i believe its worth it. That said i have been using a 80 watt unit for about one year. Dummy me did not record the date. I bought a new bulb and while reviewing the manual reread to clean the quartz sleeve every 3 months as calcium deposits can greatly reduce the effiency of light transmission. Dummy me again never did that.
So.... If there are any reefers that use a UV and am as dumb as i am in not cleaning please do so.
Here are before and after cleaning pics of the quartz sleeve. Took a good 30 minutes using white vineger.

Sweet setup. I love the remote fuge frag tank. Planning something like that for my next setup. Have to wait to get married, buy a house and move but it's constantly on my mind.

Thanks. Good luck, make sure wife and house are reef safe.
