Building my Dream: It's a Miracles!

Threw this idea together... I'd throw in some t's and cross braces but didn't feel like doing it on the computer. Used 1/2" pvc to build the frame and just a random model for the mesh. Obviously you'd use what ever mesh you wanted. The "bricks" if you will, could be from an 1/2 acrylic column if you could come across one. Not sure the best way to affix it to glass though. Maybe super glue? It would kind of suck installing this on a running system but I think it would be possible. The idea is to keep it as low profile as possible. On that line maybe egg crate would be better.

Thanks but trust me I have made plenty of mistakes, some documented in my thread and others not. For example, I just recently started dosing ca, mg, and kh using brs 2 part. As my alk was so low, it required a lot, caused a lot of precipitate and caused a mess. This wiped out about 50% of my purple coralline. Lesson learned is add that stuff in small amounts. I can go on and on with my errors, hopefully I will never do same error twice. I feel Terrible about losing my bt trigger, especially since it was avoidable if I had a cover. Difficult to find replacement also. I thank the RC community and that of my local club DVRC for the success that I have had and hope this tank will mature as nicely as so many others on this forum.

In my research for constructing a cover, I came across a similar design. I decided not to go this route as although it has the advantage of being low profile it has the disadvantage of affixing something to the glass which will be visible even when cover is off and also the cover will get wet and collect debris. I wanted something that can be easily removeable and stay dry. Will post pics possibly tomorrow of what I threw together.
Thanks for the input.

Curious how high the water line is on your rimless? If you kept the water line at about the mid point in the brace you could keep the structure dry. I'd also throw out the idea of pvc and use egg crate. There would still be a little visible from the front of the tank but that's why I made the front brace one solid piece, figured that would look nicer. Well, look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Going to make some minor adjustments to get screen mesh more tight but for now this is what i came up with.

Really like that rock work on the tank buddy!
Corey

Thanks. Since initially set up, i have only changed the middle section once. I used to have a big cave set up but i like the valley much more. Other than that i have added alot of rubble in preparation for pearly jawfish and ease of fragging. I have these crazy dreams of exotic zoanthids creeping from rubble to rubble and being able to trade.

Those are some massive rocks you have in that tank
Corey

Its pukani dry rock from BRS, requested large pieces and boy did i get them. Awesome rock, incredibly light weight. Pieces that you see were bigger but i chiseled alot off for shape.

My juvenile tb rbta. This was found on a piece of lr a month after obtaining the lr from an aquarist that once had a rbta. It had unknowingly split prior to dying and laid in the shadows for months without its owner knowing about it. It stayed small for me for a while but has recently grown rapidly.

Top down two frogspawns, two torches, anthilia, deresa clam(must have sensed something was up as its intake opened wide (stress)), and occeleris.

Wow John!

Both your toadstool and Fiji yellow leather are enjoying those lights. Both look absolutely beautiful!

Thanks. The fiji is receiving very high light but the toadstool is receiving low. Just today had to move an acan halidae? off the rock that fiji is on as i noticed spme funky coloration and slight recession.
