Sure ya do... you'll just surprise the newcomers that click to see the "Buildup of a 90 gallon reef" and find a 29 gallon fish-only tank! :lmao:

I forgot to mention earlier that I really like that spot for the tank. Perfect sized nook.

Greg

Agreed perfect sized nook to stick a tank. The hood looks excellent. Imagine if you were that short... your 29g would look more like a 90g!
By the way how far from the water surface are the PC lights mounted? Would it be better if they were closer? What is the ideal height from the water to mount PCs or T5s?

I have no idea what the ideal distance for PC's are. I just put them about 4" from the water.

It would have been easy to make the hood taller and put a MH in there but that's not really the plan of this tank, though a clam tank would be sweet. :)

That nook is exactly 48" wide, another two inches and I could have fit a 55, 75 or 90 in there. Would be impossible to get to the back though...

A 36" wide tank would have been nice however.

We had to go next door where they were still making a house to make sure they framed up that nook good enough. Looks like they did obviously...

Go ahead and buy a 58gal. to put in there, we won't tell the wife. :p

LOL, that's a nice dimension! We thought about a bowfront briefly. We already had all this other stuff though so wanted to make it as cheap as possible.

The main lightbulb burned out so that was another unplanned $40. :( I got the rock for $2 per gallon. The downside? Aiptasia galore! Some bubble algae too....

I'm already taking a highly offensive attack on this stuff. I checked the PH tonight after some major vinegar attacks and it was 7.5! Hopefully that won't kill my pods... No fish yet so I'm not too concerned.

Here is a pic:

I added a pair of maxijet 900's on my wavetimer I had lying around.

Some of this aiptasia is the size of quarters! There are still lots of little ones. I might get 3 or so peppermint shrimp to get the little ones.

Thanks elephen!

More updates. I don't have enough tank torture. I bought a 5 gallon hex to participate in the nano buildoff that AJP is running. It won't be a winner but will be fun.

Here is a pic from my camera phone:

I seem to remember way back when someone *cough, Ryan cough*, saying I was crazy for having four tanks. One more and you are there. :p

Actually, I have four now. :)

90 gallon
29 gallon
5 gallon
3 gallon

It's really sad. Is there medication or is the only cure being broke?

Going broke is the only cure that I know of. I am in the process of building a sump for my 75g. (modeled after the one I build for my 58g - which was losely based on yours.) To help offset this cost I am thinking of selling parts of my 10g, Plus I have found that 4 tanks take up too much of my newly single life. :p

at least that is what I am telling myself is the reason I can't get a date.

Hehe you guys think you got it bad :P I've been planning my 90 gallon reef for little over 2 yrs then, get to the home stretch and can't afford 150lbs of liverock, or Metal Halide lighting setup which is like 950bucks hehe SO I decided to ebay my 2 zapco amps both together cost me 3,600 bucks, and barely got 1500 for them on ebay, ohh well got live rock (marshall Islands arriving this wednesday) my skimmer is coming tommrow, and lighting I will choose in 2-3 weeks still need nother 400 bucks or so.. I told my friends that my tank only cost me 800 or so so far, but I think they'd disown me if they knew I've spent well over 3,000 so far,lol
Ohh well only live once
