Bulb Idenfication

Im changing fixtures on my

48 " x 30" x 28" cubish tank

Was running ATI 6 x 54 sunpower, but dont think it was strong enough

to reach all the way to bottom

Will be putting 2 x 400 watt se halides with 2 super actinic vho's

has new xm bulbs, but dont like the look

not sure which ones they are

they are marked xm 400 / d

does that ring a bell

im guessing they must be 10k as they look rather yellowish

never used 400 bulbs so not familiar with markings

anybody?

this is the fixture

The sunpower is enough to reach the bottom but wasn't big enough for the width of the tank. An 8 bulb fixture is better suited for that wide of a tank.

What setting did you have the fans set at? I have seen Sunpowers be well into the 250 PAR range, 30" into water.

Sorry can't be of any help on the halide bulbs. Just that you're using almost 3x the electricity now.

thanks for the input, fans were at 9

im thinking the bulbs were old on the ATI fixture, i got it used, owner said about 5 months use when i got it, but i doubt it

im not overly concerned with electricity

i run 5 reef tanks with metal halides and high output T5

and the highest bill this summer was around $260

small price to pay,

i used to pay $400 during the summer in house half the size im in now

then again it was a 79' model

now im in one of those energy efficient homes

at 2800 sq ft.

plus frags pay a bunch of the costs of running my tanks

I have this tank, 100 wave tank, 92 corner , 65 rimless, and 29 bio cube
