Who is running 250w DE?
Are there any extras or old ones laying around. I have been using the 12.5 giesmann, but there is still a little yellow to it.

I am looking at 14k's, but also would mind 20K's just to see the difference.

Thank You in advance for you time.

Hey Mark I have the Hamilton MH 250 DE 14k lamps on my tank theres pics of the light (even though there not that great) on my photobucket

I cannot find a Hamilton 14K i just changed out 2 weeks ago. BUt if i do i will PM you.

I found an old Ushio 10K i kept but it will be too yellow!

Hey Mark,

I have a used 20K (I believe its an XM but I'm not 100% sure)bulb you can have, I got it from a used pendant from a fellow RC member from the Bay Area. He told me there is about 3 months of use on it so they should still be good. If your interested LMK. BTW I run 2-14K phoenix bulbs in my tank and the color is great, not yellow at all and not overwhelming blue either.

Thank you guys for your input. I am looking at 14k pheonix, giesemann, or aquaconnect.

I wouldn't mind looking at a 20 k, butsince I run actinics as well, that might be too blue. Thanks.

I also run actinics, that's why I stayed away from the 20 K's. However John at YR runs 20 K's with actinics in his new display tank and it actually looks pretty good (a little too blue for me though).

Yeah, That is a nice look, but I don't want to go that blue either.
That is why I want to try some 14k's out. I have seen them on other tanks, but it is not my tank...I am sure you guys understand.

Gots da Phoenix and Ushio in da 1-4 to tha K!!

You should just by a couple of set and try them out......everyone trys a few out before they like them and tastes change....in addition its good to have a spare.....

So in English, that means you want to let me use the pheonix to see how they will look on MY tank...;)

Ill have to consider that one.....those are in it right now......but probably could be talked into taking off that heavy setup, unscrewing it and completly taking it apart.....with the possible risk of detrimental and irrepairable damage to my fragile ecosystem..........Ushios in hand, personally delivering them to you and letting you test drive my perfectly tuned, cool blue producing electric sensations.........

Geech......need any water too while Im at it? I figure I have 90g or so in the system I could let you "try out" also.

No problem, but cant until the weekend........

I think I am going to order a set. They are cheap enough and if DOUG is running them, then I might be so blessed to do the same.

I think you will be happy with them, more blue for what you would expect in a 14K with decent PAR.......best of both worlds you could say if thats what you were looking for.

If it makes you feel any better, your buddy Jordan was running them on his old tank and I have a 150w over the nano with em as well......

As much of an inovator I am in my own mind.......Im just a simple man.......a simple man on a quest for a bad mama jamma tank that is!!!!

If not, you can unload them easily to someone else, they are quite popular.

I just cannot pull the trigger. The aquaconnect bulbs are back age giesemann 14.5's are there and so are xm15k. Too many choices....My head is going to explode....

:mad2:

I used the 150 Watt version of the 15K XM on my old lighting system and for me it was just so so (on a coralife HQI ballast). It had a very minor tint of blue, but no yellow either just super bright white. Come to think about thats probably what your looking for Mark, being that your also running actinics.

Mark, its really hard to select bulbs without seeing them as they differ so much, you were able to narrow it down within a couple of bulbs which is pretty good. Its a lot of trial and error......you will end up probably trying a few out until you find the combination that you like.
