Bulk purchase aragonite sand...

Contemplating a large purchase of aragonite sand from these folks.
http://aragonitesource.com/
I will have to pick it up bulk in South Carolina (not bagged).
I have the truck and trailer and 3 people to do to job. I'm thinking about 55 cents per pound delivered to your driveway. I would want 25 cents per pound paid up front, so I don't own 2 tons of aragonite sand....
Who's interested in how much??

Soon, in the next couple of weeks. Delivery included. We're doing this, because we will already have it on the trailer, and its bulk not bagged, and most folks don't have a good way to transport a couple hundred pound of sand.

Sounds like a great deal. Make sure you get the right "screening." If the grains are too fine you will have constant sand storms and a nice milky tank.

mflamb,

there is a guy down near miami ... i think his screen name on here is 'treeman' - he has bags of sand ... very affordable w/out the need of doing up to SC

mflamb... so let me get this stright... it is 55 cents a pound, but 25 cents of that has to be paid up front...??? and you will delivcer that sand to your hosues if we buy. If this is true, i would like to buy some, say 50 pounds. And a couple weeks would be perfect.

treeman no longer sells to the public, but I may be able to get a bulk deal from him or the store he sells to. I'm checking on that. If so, the price goes down. My plan is delivery since the south carolina stuff is bulk (not in bags), and it's easier that way. Updates as I get them.

delivered to my driveway too!?
when are you thinking about buying?

Watch that sneaky Ben guy..... hes a good bit away from orlando:D Ben if this goes down before you come get the barrels I can hold yours here, or we can arrange some way to get it to you on the coast;)

Hey Brian, how many pounds of sand do you think i should have in the 75?and BTW< i can buy and will buy your setup. but Marcye said that i should buy mostly aragonite, but a couple pounds of live sand to seed it, but how much of each?

If it where me I would buy one bag of live, whatever size she sells, I think I saw 20 or 10 lbs, really not sure and the rest dry, as far as the amt. total goes do some reading, I personllay only use enough sand to cover the bottom and look good, mainly cause I plan on moveing the tank in the next year or so so the DSB concept really wont have time to become effective. Remeber that sand does store well though, buy extra and keep it in the garage for your next tank or for when you need to replenish. I find myself needing to add sand often due to giveing people handfuls to seed there tank and also vacuming it out with maintence. Plus the price will be pretty good on this group buy.

yes it will : )...but noone has answered my question......it is only 55 cants a pound, but you have to pay 25 cents up front? that is right, right?

too late - he said he would!
I really don't think he looked at the location though! If this works, holding it for me would be great! It will be a couple more weeks before i head that way. Gotta wait till the sump is ready. I might not need your barrels, i found someone with a 120 container!

seth16, that's how i took it!

Ben, If you need em there here, if not Im sure we can shuttle the sand to your side of the world somehow:)

Seth. Im not sure But I read it as 55Cent per lb with half up front. The price is still up in the air as far as I know, Mikes trying to gauge interest in how much where talking, better to negotiate knowing what your buying than a what if:) Mike Please confirm thats what your thinking here? And be warned of Seth to, he;ll try to pay with snickers bars:)

hahaha, hey now, i also have 3 muskateers, milkyway, snickers ALMOND, and twix....... if you are gonna advertise, you gotta say em all...lol......im sure the staff of SITC enjoyed all the candy i left for them..hahaha

seth16...if we work a deal with the store down south, it may be less. I will be checking price structure tomorrow. I'll let you know here tomorrow afternoon. If I'm going south to pick it up, I want some cash up front. I dont want to own 2 tons of sand.

Oh, we'll still be stopping by either way. If your that close to Jack, I might as well stop in to see what your setup is like too!

Mike sorry to take a tangent on your thread!

ben&bobbi...your correct. I'm trying to see who's interested, so I can negotiate a good price. I have a truck and trailer and can haul up to 4 tons. The more I get, the lower the price per pound and the less in fuel costs added. I can do the south carolina stuff for 55 cents a pound, but I may be able to do the south florida stuff for less. The cash up front is so I don't get stuck with tons of sand. Delivery is not a problem.

mike,

let me know whatr you come up with treeman, pease .. i had purchased a few pounds from him (between 100-200lbs) in the past .. and may be looking to purchase some more for a local store here.
