Bulkhead/Flange Question

Generaly I like a slip-flange side left side of diagram (inside tank/wet side) and double thread on the sump side. Make sure the gasket goes on wet side(inside tank) or it will leak. People always think gasket like washer goes with nut and can't figure out why the slight drip, lol.

Having slip in overflow alows easy cleaning if needed, just don't glue it in and you'll be able to pull it as needed. It won't leak. Useing double thread on sump side(threads inside and out) gives you more options. I try to use outside threads /larger pipe more flow. Having threads allows changeing plumbing/moving if needed without having to buy new fittings/less fittings.

Try to getball valves with double unions in there in there so you can turn off flow and take apart if needed, such as taking out sump for cleaning.

I usually go with the pvc fittings and big o-ring. Had a nice big bulkhead that would not stop leaking any way i put it together. Went to ace, got a male to female threaded, a female to female threaded and two big o-rings and its been going strong for a year now.
