Bulkhead Question

I wouldnt do it. Better chance to leak. They are designed to have the rubber gasket inside.

NO, bulkheads are intended to have the gasket between the flange and the glass/acrylic. Orientation of the bulkhead is immaterial.

THIS:

But I said before, the only problem will be down the road when you want to take it off. Now if you have the NUT on the wet side, it's all wet and gross and slippery and full of fish poop and other organics and could be a pain to remove. Always easier to have the flange/Gasket on the wet side.

Thrilled it worked for you - still not the right way to do it though.

Looked at my installation once again and I think I have it correct although I think I was confused by what is being called the flange.. Went to a plumbing website to get it straightened out. All three of my bulk heads that were part of a closed loop system are flange side inside the tank, rubber gasket inside the tank. Retaining/tightening nut on the outside of the tank. I simply plugged these bulk heads with threaded plugs on the wet side of the fittings as all three are thread/thread bulkheads.
