Bulkheads on Round Containers

Sorry if this is a basic question but can you use regular bulkheads on round containers? What is the smallest diameter of container that you can do this with as I'm getting ready to order some RO/DO and saltwater containers from US Plastics?

for round containers, oreder some uniseals instead of bulkheads...makes life way easier.

Sorry but what's a Uniseal?

I just installed a bulkhead in a 32 gal brute and it worked fine. A uniseal is a rubber grommet type of bulkhead that can be used on curved walls.

If the containers are flexible enough, it will flatten out at the bulkhead seal and be fine, otherwise use the uniseal.

Savko carries a product named uniseal. I use them on a brute garbage can thats round. So far no leaks.

Hi Alan! I used 3/4" bulkheads on the Ace tanks I got from US Plastics and they work fine. I'm sure I could have installed 1" bulkheads with no problem.

No idea on the life of the uniseal but they are very thick pieces of rubber so it has to last for a while.

I believe you just use the pipe, no fittings.

Yep, you just drill a hole, stick the uniseal in it, then stick the pipe through it. No other fittings needed.

Which containers are you going with. I am also looking for some and so far i think Brute cans are my choice. Ideally i would like something rectangular.

I was looking at these first Tamco rectangular tanks but then I saw these graduated drums
However I'm not sure keeping water stored in a translucent tank/barrel would be a good idea because of algae growth.
I have the Tamco 18x12x24 deep for my in-floor sump (my equipment room is in the basement and has no drain so I pump the water into my sewer line with one of these Wayne sump pump

The only problem with the Tamco tanks is that they recommend that you brace the top lip all the way round to prevent bowing or splitting when full of water. I think the round tank is the way to go.
