Bulkheads

I use the slip and then use a flexible adaptor/splice to 'insulate' my pvc pipe from being directly attached to the tank. It's worked really well.

I get mine from BRS.

You can go either PVC or ABS. PVC are stronger, but ABS has the advantage that if you torque them too much, they will break before your tank does. I've heard stories of pvc bulkheads cracking tanks. One issue with PVC is they generally require larger holes for a given size.

Regarding slip vs threaded, I would go with slip. Cemented slip joints are far easier and more secure, IMO. Many people worry about being able to take down their plumbing, but in truth, that rarely needs to be done, and when it does you usually need to re-do your plumbing anyway. New bulkheads are cheap, so expense isn't a big concern either.

I have been looking for slip x slip bulkheads and cant seem to find any... all are slip x thread, or thread x thread

when I look on amazon or at big water brand. they only have slipxthread. do they even make sch 80 slipxslip?

If you are going to use Sch 80 bulkheads, make sure that they will actually fit your holes. There are differences between the body sizes for the Sch 80 and ABS.

For this, threaded or slip isn't a factor.
