I have one 24" of each on both sides of my ATI. Definitely a difference. If you're tank is deep I'd go xho

Yeah I mixed it. Put the XHO in the front and Techs in the back. I wanted it to look cohesive.

Yeah that's Daniel alright! He's alway got good ideas for my tank.
 
I am thinking of selling my xho for some techs on the new build. Do you notice more shimmer if you run the techs only? A few friends have said the same.

I haven't noticed or paid attention to that. I just assumed the XHO would shimmer more. U can roll by one of these days to check it out or I can try to test it out tonight.
 
I'm on the fence in deciding between XHO and Techs as well. Rik just said he dims his xho by 50% which pretty much makes a Tech right?

XHO only comes in black. It won't match your tank. Tech has white I believe..

but you can also spray the XHO white.
 
didn't know they allow special orders. good to know! hated the XHO look on ATI

I've seen spray painted ones. Also saw some wrapped XHO. They looked fine. just need to do 2 layers and some light sanding.
 
did you drill the external overflow box bulkhead holes during the install or was it already matching the holes on the tank?

Tri, I misspoke. I have the dimmer switch where you press a button and it has 6-7 settings. When I first got them I had them a 100% and within days I had some burnt tips. Scott was the one who told me to ramp down as they have par as well. So I did but over time I slowly ramped up and just forgot I did. I checked yesterday and I'm actually one below the 100%.

my xho is black and it's on my ATI and after the first day I never noticed. If I can live with a little nuisance algae here and there I can get used to a fixture but that's just me

Well that's another reason I stayed with they teklight so I can mount the XHO in the front.
