are these guys illegal to collect in florida? i was vacationing in the gulf and seen several at low tide back last summer and was thinking about collecting a few next year.

They're legal to collect, but you will need a saltwater fishing license to take any live ones. I assume you already realize they're not reef safe.

i have been reading about them lately. it looks like my clams would be threatened. what if they were target fed like my green serpant star?

Since they don't naturally occur with tridacnids, it's hard to say if they would jump on them and eat them...You could attempt to target feed them, but it could turn into a really expensive proposition from Arkansas. You might get them to eat the live clams that are sometimes available at the supermarket. Sounds like a risky enterprise though, especially if you intend to keep them with your giant clam(s). It would be a lot easier if you lived on the east coast.

Cheers,

Don
