Butterfly Fish Paralyzed

Hi all, The weather down here has been getting rather cold and it just so happened that my heater crapped out on me. I regularly have the tank at 27 degrees celsius(80*f) but when i got home from work it was at 21*c or 70*f!!!! My carpet anemone was shrunk and looking bad and my butterflyfish(dont know the sort, will post a pic later...) has his right pectoral fin paralyzed.

The carpet is fine now, but the butterfly fish seems to be paralyzed. He still eats rather well but his fin is still immobile. Has anyone had this happen to them before??? Will he be okay.

Thanks for the help guys.

Maybe it had a run in with the carpet anemone???

That's the only logical thing off the top of my head... dropping your tank to 70 wont cause something like that.

Hmm.... True, cause none of the other fish were even affected by the change. It very well could have been the carpet nem...

Thermometer very well could have been off though, damn chinese manufacturing.

The thermometer in the hours read 15*c when the tank was 21*. I'll go and buy another thermometer when i get back from work and take a look at things. Hopefully little guy will live though. He is eating and everything, just immobilized. Anyone have a paralyzed fish before???

That would have been my first guess, not temperature.

Could it be possible that your heater shorted out into the water and shocked everything in your tank? I had something similar happen in the past where the heater was putting a small amount of voltage in the water due to a crack on the cord. Took a while to figure out what it was.
