Butterfly fish

Does anyone have any experience with butterfly fish and anemones (particularlly carpet anemones)? I know from other experiences that butterfly fish eat all kinds of corals and anemones but I am not sure about carpets. Don't worry I don't even have a tank right now but I donated my wonderful copperband to my place of empolyment and it has proven to be very aptasia and worm specific.

I have a CBB and a Stichodactyla gigantea carpet currently in a 75g, no problems. However, I know it's a relatively safe combo because CBB's are generally the most reef-safe of the butterflies and the S. gigantea carpets are far less aggressive predators of fish than say S. haddoni. So a different carpet species and/or a different butterfly species may be a different story, hard to say.

I had auriga and ulietensis eat BTA's and sebae's. No experience with carpets. CBB don't really have the mouth structure designed for pecking off pieces of large anemones. I think you'll be fine. Frankly, I'd be more concerned about your carpet eating your CBB....it's more likely.

Thanks folks! I am toying with the idea of a carpet anemone tank and I like the results I have gotten in the past with butterflys for aptasia control.
