Butterflyfish compatibility

Has anyone ever kept a copperband and a yellow longnose together? They will be going into a 125 gallon reef if they are compatible. I have read in books that both may fight with conspecifics so I am a little worried that they may not get along because of the similar body shape. I will be adding them at the same time if they can get along.

I've had both together and they never fought and got along perfectly fine. I also added them both at the same time, with the copperband being larger. Unfortunately my moorish idol attacked and killed both after a few months. Just make sure they're in a stress free environment, especially the copperband, it seems to help with feeding.

Get live black worms. In my opinion it's the best way to get them eating and have long term success at keeping one. I've had my copperband over 3 years now and he is very fat and healthy. I only feed live black worms, and once in a while I feed him an occasional clam. I guess he eats nori now too. He seems to go crazy for it when I put selcon on it.

I have both together and they have no issues at all with each other. The long nose is a much better feeder. He will eat most frozen foods readily. The copperband eats live black worms with the rest of the tank, but seems mostly confused when other foods are fed. Make sure they are eating before you buy and have the black worms ready. They are both quite peaceful and in my opinion should be kept with peaceful tank mates. I have lost a copperband in the past that got stressed out by a tang. Now I have butterflies and small wrasses and blennies, but no tangs or clowns, as I prefer to keep the peace. Good luck with your fish.

My copperband also eats nori! Blackworms are its favorite food. But also any mushrooms. I also have a yellow eyed kole, and pyramid butterfly. The 3 of them are great friends.
