Im getting ready to buy a house and its on well water, I know several of you have gone thorugh this recently and was wondering if anyone found any serious problems to test fro that are not part of a normal h20 test. Water doesnt seem to bad without any kind of filtration but I wanted to know if there is anything extra to ahve the inspectors test for. thanks!

any idea how bad your rust is? I havent checked this well yet but my last well had a severe rust problem and im wondering how fast that can screw a RO/DI system or if I need to think about prefiltering.

I am on a well, but still working out the kinks with my fish water. I have a really good "well/water guy" in xmas. Want me to see if he knows anyone in deland to talk to?

nah not just yet chad, appreciate the offer but I have to get an inspection and Im gonna have the guy test the water and see where im at, once I get those baselines I will most likely take you up on that offer. Thanks!

no rust here. The only thing I notice is the occasional sulfur smell but I think that is in the pipes that water doesn't get used as much.

Chad- Really not sure yet, hoping to find out this week, im thinking probally shallow after talking to the neighbors on both side they are both shallow and where drilled around the same time by the same company years ago.

Jason- Place is just west of deland, like 5 miles from the st johns river. Not sure how we are gonan setup just yet, gotta punch a few holes in the wall and cvheck for load bearing walls before we decide what to do. Im thinking I will most likely sell off most of the critters i have now and start over after getting settled to avoid moveing them 3 times. Plus I have a carport outside that may turn into a large lagoon type tank instead of haveing a glass tank... time will tell but for now I have to pass on the eel, no more new additions till I figure out what route im going.

we are on a well too. i am not sure how deep, but the house well is a deep well, the back pump is shallow and very rusty. We do have a water softner on the house water, and also get the occassional sulfur smell. our RODI filters seem to last a good time till it staarts to read over 005.

We are also on a well...besides the occasional sulphur smell, we have no real rust problems, although occasionally we'll have some spots on our carbon filter. Our filters seem to last a while here too, but our water is only about 210 TDS coming in. Congrats on the new house...sounds like a very nice area. Marcye

I have a bit of a rust issue and the occasional sulfer gas, but my tap tds is only 165, and my ro/di unit last forever. If you end up needing any work on your well, Wiggin's well on s.r.46 by Sorrento is really a good bunch. The owner there has met me after hours on a weekend when i needed a part, and it was just a cheap $6 guage that sprung a leak.

Sweet thanks for the info guys, Dugg, ill give thme a call any chance you can PM nme his number and your name so I can tell them who referred? Im getting the seller to pay for a new pump and so far he has told me that he wants me to just have it doen and he will pay me for it. Thanks again!
