About the same... you will want to add fans to both to keep the bulbs cool. They dont produce alot of heat or anything like that, its just that they are sensitive to it building up. By adding a cross-flow fan to my Tek, I increased the light output by 20%... and my bulbs have been holding their output much longer.
The reflectors could be better though. If you buy through reefgeek.com, you can have them swap out the reflectors with the Icecap SLRs... a better reflector that wont stain as easily as the SLS reflectors... its only a couple $$ per bulb too... well worth it. So for me, the retro would be the way to go so you can get better reflectors.
