Buying Snails

Are snails necessary for a fish tank, and If I buy some will they reproduce quickly and become annoying. What are the pros and cons in buying snail. OR is there a better clean up crew to go with.

Snails arent necessary at all. I prefer hermit crabs or shrimp.

I think most people will say go with snails and then you get 50/50 on hermits.

I have about a dozen hermits and about 100 snails of all shapes and sizes. They don't or haven't for me reproduced enough to become annoying.

Do a search for Clean up Crews (CUC) or snails or hermits and you will find dozens of threads I'm sure.
