Announcement

On January 31, 2014, all members of CTARS will be able to vote on amended bylaws.

The voting will close on February 14th, 2014.

You will be able to review the fully amended bylaws prior to voting.
This is made to be informational to the club about the upcoming vote, not to spark a debate.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to e-mail me.

It's been one month, and Chris has gone above and beyond... excellent job so far dude... It's gonna be a good year for the members of ctars and the club itself

I was wondering if someone on the BOD could highlight the main changes to the bylaws and what the reasoning was behind changing them. Its one thing to read the old bylaws and then compare to the new ones. But I always find it helpful to hear the reasoning for the proposed changes.

Yea im a bit lost i skimmed through both and I would love to hear what the major changes are. I noticed if im correct that there's five new pages in the new proposed by-laws?

We have left the voting open to everyone for two weeks in order to give you all enough time to look over both the current and proposed by-laws.

However, for those of you that want a bit of information...

Everything is pretty much the same.

  • We re-did the memberships a bit and added a clause about store owners.
  • We explained the roles of the board in greater detail.
  • There is a legal issue in the current by-laws that does not protect the members of CTARS; that was removed.
  • A non-discrimination clause was added.
  • A clause about soft audits was also added for further protection of club funds.
  • Any amendments can now also be brought to the board by members, where before they couldn't.
  • There were major spelling errors and improper wording in the current by-laws. All of these were fixed.
Pretty much the things that people in the club were angry about two years ago, were tweaked for their satisfaction.

There was in no way five pages added to the proposed by laws. What you are seeing is more along the lines of double spacing and a better format. Approximately two pages were added mostly due to the memberships, detailed roles and non-discrimination clause.

I don't believe that the way the bylaws are written are hard to understand at all. However, should anyone have a hard time understanding anything in them, please feel free to private message me.

Like I said, I believe anyone will get more from this if they take the time to read the current and proposed bylaws themselves.

Thanks for the information. I did read both the current and the proposed bylaws. I was just looking for a bit of the reasoning behind the changes. Thanks.
