C. Meredithi on Divers Den

There's a beautiful C. Meredithi (False Personifer angel) on liveaquaria's Divers Den that i've been looking at for a while now.

My question is regarding shipping these fish.

Ive not used liveaquaria or Divers Den specifically for buying fish yet, but have heard stellar reviews on their care and shipping methods. However, I'm nervous with an angel like this.

Would it be better to wait and look for a local store to have one, rather than have this fish shipped? Most stores local to me are either lower cost but lower quality (ok. Obvious enough, but low enough to where I wouldn't buy fish from them) or higher quality but much higher prices (probably $350+) for the same fish.

I do like the fact that the fish has been in their QT system for a few weeks now as well.

I wouldn't hesitate to order from LADD, especially if your only concern is shipping. They are a little nuts, TBH, when it comes to shipping fish. Big bags!

BTW, great angel...I was just admiring my male last night... his gill spine alone is over 1/2" at this point!

I think I've seen your pair of Meredithis before, actually. Do you have a video on YouTube or similar?

Also, do these fish typically develop the blue faces as they mature or will the fish on DD stay like that (his face is darker in color)

You won't find better care and handling any where else. They have the best customer service of any business I have ever dealt with. Don't hesitate to order from Live Aquaria. They are great!!

Yes, I have some vids of them on youtube. Mine both started with grey faces, and both have blue now... the male has the classic "net" pattern to it.

If I end up ordering the fish I plan on having him go straight into my QT system (bare bottom, cycled, 75 gallon with live rock and some macro algae). Is prazipro recommended for this angel (after getting him to eat in my system, of course)

are you looking at the 2 7/8" FP on DD??

You really dont need that big of a QT tank for that size fish. I would go with a ~20-29g. Its much more easier to manage and dose.

Prazipro is recommended for all angels and any fish for that matter. It doesnt matter where the fish is from, I always do minimum 2 treatments of prazi.

btw, you wont find a better source to buy fish from than LA/DD.

"large" angels ship very well, so i wouldnt worry much about it. I've even had 2 angels taking 40+hrs to deliver(Fed-EX screw up) from NYA and the 2 angelfish still did fine and was eating that day and the day after.

I'm currently running a 40 gallon QT but I have a 75 as well, and figured why not? You're right though, it would be more to maintain and more medicine would be required for that large volume.

I've never used prazipro before so I am a bit nervous honestly.

I wouldn't worry about shipping at all. I bought a golden puffer from them and they used 7 bags!!! It took me 10 minutes just to remove all of the bags and rubber bands. LA/DD is the best place you can buy fish from online.

I'm very confident especially after all these helpful comments on this thread.
My next challenge will be gathering enough sponge and macro/micro algae for my "too clean" live rock.

Not sure how critical the sponge is, but they sure do LOVE algae. Since I don't normally feed nori, I bought some spirulina pellets instead. Mine go CRAZY for them. The are inexpensive, and spirulina is the first/main ingredient.

I just bought a dwarf lionfish from them, a small one. The bag must have held at least 3 gallons of water! The fish looked lost in the bag!

With delicate angels, I think your QT size is just fine. The space will help minimize stress with an active, if small, fish. Definitely do the prazi, they tend to come in with gill flukes, IME, even from LADD. If it doesn't eat right away, be patient, offer much variety, and hang in there. If you have questions or concerns, email them, as for Kevin Kohen to answer your questions. They can tell you exactly what they were feeding (check the web site).

Ditto on what other's said. DD's shipping and care is the best.

I bought a little redfin waspfish from them 2 weeks ago and he was in no lie at least 7-8 bags. It was a giant box and bag for a tiny ~2" fish.

So did you get it? I was just sitting here admiring mine, and realizing how big the male is, and yet how peaceful he is in a rather cramped tank with other fish.

Hi all

Was fortunate enough to snag her; it was either going to be a scribbled or the personifer. With the sale price I could not resist. It was a little stressful acclimating - it laid at the bottom for a good amount of time. But by the third day it's up and about, healthy appetite, and active as can be!

Still holding hope for a same-size scribbled to get, then I will be set! I know, famous last words.....

You'll be happy with LADD. Prazipro is easy to dose and manage. I would give a day or so before starting up the treatments after the angel settles and begins to eat.

If you think to post some pictures, I know a few us would enjoy them.

Wouldn't be concerned at all about shipping. There awesome! I bought my saddleback grouper from LADD when he was about 6 inch. They shipped him in a huge bag. Thick heavy duty plastic bags and they used about six of them. Also they used plenty heating packs and the temp was around 75 when I got him. On top of all that the grouper was in perfect health.
