C paspaloides v. C prolifera

^. Is there a big difference in the chances of either of them going sexual on me? What are their preferences(lighting, substrate, nutrients, etc.)? I love the idea of a fake seagrass bed (Prolifera) to house a pair of banggai cardinalfish, but I also like the idea of a "palm tree forest" (paspaloides) that I could see a pair of barbershop pole gobies darting through.

Current substrate: mixed, ranging from pieces of aragonite (20-30 mm) to sugar-size grains.

Nutrients: High nutrient load probably (I haven't tested in a while).

Lighting: LED fixture (14000K single fixture from BML, currently at 50% capacity.

Area: about a quarter of the tank length (1 foot by 18 inches I think), separated by a barrier of shelf rock.

I think that the whole "going sexual" thing has to do more with lighting and care of the macro itself, other than that, when it's its time, it's its time i would guess. Dying off and wanting to keep its legacy going!

Im not expert by any means though,Hopefully someone with much better experience can be of help to you

Both of the macros you mentioned will grow fast. The number one reason for fast growing macro to go sexual is nutrient deficiency.
