C-Sea site might have downtime

Guys,

I'm transferring our service over the next couple days, and while it happens there might be some downtime. Just wanted you to know ahead of time. I'll let you know here on RC if there are any issues that keep it down for a while.

thx!

Could you PLEASE remove my full name from the C-SEA website? Identity theft is all too common these days and I DO NOT use my full name, or ANY personal information on the internet at all for a reason. I do not even keep any personal info on my PC for this reason. I have seen first hand what identity theft can do to a persons life. I don't take any chances.

To be honest this was one factor that deterred me from running for a board position. I never understood why the boards full name and phone number needed to be public.

Done - the members list has been removed entirely.

The site will again be down a bit this weekend as the full hosting transfer and further application upgrades take place -just as another heads up.

thx..

Identity thieves usually need a little more personal information than your name and phone number since they can get that on anyone with a listed phone number, from the printed or online white pages. Still, the more you shred all discarded documents and mail, and reduce the distribution of your name, the less chance you will be targeted. Clubs used to wish everyone a happy birthday and list them in a newsletter or announce at the meetings. That is a treasure trove to an identity thief. Be sure organizations you belong to understand the times we live in and discontinue what used to be a nice social touch but now would be invasion.

Thank you Amy. I already know I am overly paranoid. I just don't see any reason to take chances. Like I said I've seen first hand how bad things can get for a person when just a little info falls in the wrong hands.

BTW I noticed in the local stores section you have salty critters old address listed. Just trying to help.

I think I see what happened on the LFS page. It looks like you used the webarchive.org pages to get all the links but they actually lead to the cached pages on that site so they aren't links to the LFS they are only links to the archived pages.

NP at all..understandable concerns.

Also, I'm way behind in getting the accurate info for stores/sponsors and other stuff posted still (cuz I'm playing with the techy stuff too much!), so bare with it a bit longer. I also have tons of old newsletters that folks have sent me and have only gotten a few of those uploaded yet. The old ones are pretty interesting to go through.

thx guys..

Also can you change the posting so that it is like RC and not the way that it is now. And I sent you some more pictures. Thanks, Tim

Folks, just ignore the 'dummy' board that comes up if you try to get to the site for now.

There is one line of code off, and therefore I can't complete the re-design of it all yet. Everything on there is a bunch of default settings, and no links work, and the look and content will change (there are ads and other crap that won't be there, etc..) when I get the support folks to assist with the code problem. I'll be able to then login as admin and make all the good changes.

thx for the patience!

(p.s., yes Tim! :) )

Update here; I'm backing out the changes that I started the other night that would have converted the site to the type you see at the home page here on RC, and a LOT of other sites you see these days. The tie-in between our forums, and this 'portal' is not as plug-and-play as hoped, and I'm still awaiting support from the 2 different software development organizations to correct access problems it caused.

So, I have to be out today, and will continue tonight to try to remedy all this, and sorry for the delays folks!!! It will be online again soon, just can tell you exactly when because I'm at the 'mercy' of the support groups right now.

thx..
