I know this is a uninteresting question which is not really fun to answer. I am moving from a 265 to a 400 plus 125 sump. Looking to have a slightly over size kalk reactor and ca reactor. I was looking a the "My Reef Creations" brand reactors.

Would like the size to be for a heavy sps only tank.

(my k2r reactor does not keep up with the 265gal)

Since you are looking at the Myreef Brand, just call or email Andy and ask him what he thinks...no one knows better than the creator of the product.

Andy is a good source, and there is always a but. Look a the tank of the month 30 lbs of media for a 110 gal. The unit Andy recommended is 16 lbs for 400 + gals. I have put a order in but he said he will be out for a week and wouldn't ship for 10 days. I just do not want to have to ever redo this reactor if possible.

I have a couple large recirculating reactors by Geo that use a Little Giant MDQ-2 pump and a maxijet for feed. These reactors are 8" diameter and hold about 30lbs of the Schuran media.

I second Geosreef... I have been very very happy with mine. not as large as nanook's but it is quality work.

The schuran reactors seem to have some bold statements which sound good. They use co 2 better, to me this would mean less co2 and algae in the tank. I would assume any co 2 reactor could pulverize a chamber if you ran mass amounts of co2 in it. Does this unit do something really different.

I have read that several of the Schuran users have to use timers on their units dt the efficiency. They are also not the most user friendly from what I have read...but, my first hand experience is nil.

Ya do use the larger media it works better. I currently have a dual chamber reeftek and love it, I've had it on 500G with no issues. MRC is also a great product. Schuran is good but overpriced in my opinion

I am researching calcium reactors right now and the best bang for the buck (in my opinion) Aquatic Systems Design (http://www.aquaticsystemsdesign.com/)

My Reef Creations and the GEOs are a close second though.

i agree i have one and i have never touched it.. running perfect and its cheaper then the Geo and Pm models.. talks to Scott he is a great guy.. he can even custom make them for you for a great price.. but you should be fine with the dual chamber one...

I just ordered a ReefTek reactor today. It was a tough choice between the two (ReefTek and Aquatic Systems Design). ReefTek has more options/choices for a complete setup and Jorge was really good in answering all of my emails. Scott was good also in answering questions. The ReefTek comes in a 12" which will fit better underneath the stand (if I end up putting it there - already full with equipment). The ASD you have to special order for a 12" size.
