Ca Reactor Media Top off question

It has been a year and now i topped off my Reactor and Second Chamber with more material and my Alk has gone up, is it normal that u have to readjust the bubble count after adding material? I used to be appx a bubble every .7sec and now i am at every 4 seconds and still having trouble keeping it from raising the alk. This past week i have been playing with it trying to find the right count.

So, it it normal after a top off?

In short, yes. If your media was low enough that the effluent had a lower alk level, when you filled the chamber it might be running more efficiently now with a higher alk.
