CA reactor media??

Any one using or got any feedback on regular aragonite sand and dolomite in a CA reactor instead of true reactor media? Pros, Cons and thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Thanks,

I'd think with sand it would be hard to get a good flow through the reactor.

I use crushed coral (geo marine) in my reactor and I'm quite happy with it. I have thought about switching to something else (the larger hard coral pieces), but mainly just so I have something to compare it with. I can get a bag of geo marine for about $15 at Pets Mart. I’ve thought about adding dolomite, but just haven’t had the chance to look for any. Although from what I have read it dissolves at a lower pH than most CA media, but the CC maybe good to use with it since it can be run at a lower pH without melting.

have you had any problems with algae blooms or anything that would be caused by phosphates in the media?
