Ca. reactor question**please help**

do i have to have a peristaltic pump or what? I currently have to re adjust my effluent drip about every other day.The effluent drip slows down by itself.As it is I have my return pump from the sump feeding the reactor.

Most people don't use a peristalic pump on their CA reactors. In your current setup, are you restricting the inlet or outlet side of the reactor?

I don't know about most people not using them but I sure as heck do. HUGE thread about Reeftek reactors needing them on them. I had to put one on mine as I was having the same exact problem as you just like numerous others.

Im restricting the outlet side of the effluent with the adjustable valve that comes with the PM 422 reactor

Which pump do you recommened Freed?dont these cost like a million bucks!

Some run around $80. You could always get a http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=OE1137

and restrict the flow as it puts out about 3 gallons per hour which is more than you would want running thru your reactor or there are other peristaltic pumps you could use.
