Cable O-ring on 9002 skimmer

Hi Roger

I have purchased the above, and on unpacking see that where the cable for the pump goes into the back of the unit, the o-ring is split. Is it supposed to be like this (more of a c-ring than an o-ring)? Does it need to be a good seal, to create the correct pressure inside the unit?

The unit is not in use as of yet.

Please advise.

It is just there to protect the cord, it must be split for the cord to be inserted. The only job of this part is to be sure the cord does not rub against the hard and sharp plastic and get cut. It is not a seal.
