Hi. I just ordered a AC Jr. and dc8. I have a few questions. I didnt order any of these but what is the PC Serial Cable used for? Do I need a FIRMware cable? Thanks for the help.

I've got the ac-3 which comes with a serial port, but the ac jr. from what I've seen comes both ways. The serial port is optional.
If you what to monitor and control from your pc then you would need the serial port and cable to connect to your pc. Either way everything can be performed right at the controller if you don't hook to a pc.
These controllers are great, well worth the money.

Hum...I dont know if my jr. will come with the serial port. Its the one from the PA group buy, I didnt see an option to chose a serial port or not, just thought it would hook up where the temp probe hooks up. Any ideas if the PA group buy Jr's come with the serial port? If not no biggy.

If you purchased the optional serial connection and then installed Aquanotes then yes.

Seems the Jr. dosent have the serial port. There will be one comming out in a few weeks with the serial port.

oh so the serial connection is not the optional serial cable you can buy from them? instead a new port on a new junior that is coming out?

i have a junior from when they first came out.

oh i guess you are correct:

If the AquaControllerJr is purchased with the optional serial port it can be connected to PC via a standard RS-232 cable (available from Neptune Systems). The serial interface allows you to download the datalog log as well as retrieve the current status of the monitored parameters and controlled devices in the aquarium. A computer is NOT required to program or operate the AquaController Jr.

Yeah...that sums it up. I dont care. I have enogh to keep me busy learning the language but once I learn it I know I will want a better one.
Might just step up to one of the big boys like the pro or something. For now this will be more than enough to play around with.

Would be nice if there was a way we could trade in our current models to the one with the optional serial port. I'd really like that feature. Looks like it costs about 30.00
