Im contemplating on buying one on the future but I wanted to see how it'd look first....so come on show me your CAD 39g if you have one. TIA

mike

I had the 22g version and they are not bad tanks at all. The construction IMO is much better than a solana. (If you like rimless of coarse) I cant say much else on the halide fixture as I had the old 6 bulb T5 version.

I have the 39G Signature series and love it. all the equipment is great and top quality. no modding or swapping out and buying other equipment. i took off the UV and use it only periodically instead of 24/7. the build quality of the tank and cabinet is definitely top shelf.

too bad they are on back order right now but they are building them now and i think they will be in stock again next month or so.

Here you go. Everything is top notch on the tank except the skimmer. It is a micro bubble machine - swapped for the Tunze nano skimmer and couldn't be happier.

Hey Marine addict cool upgrade on the Tunze. i still use the stocked pinwheel skimmer and its good. i put in a elbow facing down and stuck in a aquaclear sponge to take out the bubbles and made it trickle better.

nice pics

It is a good skimmer - I could never solve the issue.... though I never tried what you did. Perhaps I should have... might have save $150..... I use an aquaclear sponge in the 1st chamber quiet the waterfall sound (I keep my water level pretty high so it isn't too loud)

The pics are a little out of date - I need to take new ones.

I just replaced the MH and T5 bulbs.... big difference from the originals. Don't get me wrong the orginals are good but you can really see the difference when you replace them!

Overall it is a great system - well worth the $$$ IMO.

Hey snowriderz let see you tank :D,
marineaddict thats one sick set up looks awesome,
California Crow thanx for the link, but I want to get the all in one tank
Sorry I didn't post, I was very busy shipping some items I had to sell to earn money to get this tank Keep the pics coming.

Merfin70: that is a great tank with some amazing rockwork!

I just ordered my 39G yesterday, and hopefully will ship Friday. I'm hoping to take some pictures and document putting it together (I got a 39G complete from OceanReeflections.com, same as the signature but no ATO or UV). Ken was very helpful in answering all of my questions. Now of course begins the longest week of my life. From what I have read they are quality tanks with great customer service, but not the best assembly or instruction manuals. I'm happy I didn't get the Pro, I don't mind not plumbing another tank for awhile.

Hey Mike. i will take some new pics of my tank. gosh i havent posted pics of my tank in at least a few months haha. its gonna be hard to beat Merfins and Marineaddicts but i will try! those are some nice reefs.

the side profile views AWESOME when you get it at the right angle it looks smooth, like an ice cube waiting to melt.

Marineaddict - Curious as to what bulbs you choose when you replaced the stock CAD MH and T5s. I ran Phoenix 14k for a while but found they washed out some of my colors (reds, yellows, oranges). Unfortunately, I have a LOT of those colors in my tank.

So I just placed an order for a Radium 20k to see how that looks. Wondering what you're using and how you like it?

p.s. - nice color on the montis. my purple looks sad compared to yours.

I'm actually using the Phoenix 14k bulb - really like it. I'm also using ati - actinic t5's. I like the mix.

I have heard really good things about the Radium bulbs. let me know your thoughts.

Thanks Merfin and Snowriderz for the kind words. It looks a lot different now. I need to take some updated pics and post. Stay tuned.

Merfin - I really like you set-up as well. The bottom tunnels are cool!

BTW - Ken at Ocenreeflections is awesome! He will answer your emails at all hours of the night!!!

Indeed, Ken is the best. This was my first reef tank and so I knew very little practically when I came into the hobby. I did a whole lot of reading but that only gets you so far. In the beginning, Ken helped fill in many of the blanks for me.

I liked my Phoenix and also swapped out to the ATI Blue+ bulbs. They were good and I ran them for 6+ months but my colors just weren't where I wanted them to be.

Like I said, I'm new to this so it might not have anything to do with the bulbs ultimately but I like to experiment and try new things. This trial is not cheap though as those MH bulbs get pretty expensive pretty quick. I'm also going to trial the Fiji Purple T5 bulb, which I hear improves reds/oranges, etc.

I let you know how the Radium looks once its burned in a bit. I have some very sweet SPS frags coming on Tuesday so I'm excited.

Please keep me/us up to date on the changes. It would be nice if this thread started a nice little "club" of us CAD owners. For a while I felt pretty alone with this tank. Not a lot of help when needed. Not becuase people didn't want to help but I don't think many people had the tank. It seems to be getting more popular.

My MH has gone off for the night - I will take update pics and post them here.

For your 1st reef tank it looks great!!! Really would look great for your 5th reef tank! Post some pics of those new frags!!!

Also should say - no intent to hijack your thread mikejones. I hope you get a CAD and post all of your questions and pics here.

I guess we don't have a Cad 39g owners thread here on RC? I can never use the blessed search so its hard to look around and see who else has our tank.

I don't normally hang around here in the nano forum but I was thinking of upgrading my lighting to a 250w MH so I stopped in for a visit. Like you, it feels kind of lonley when you have a question but want to ask it to people who have your particular setup.

I'd love to subscribe to a 39g owners thread!!

p.s. - Thanks for the tank compliments. As you probably know though, pictures are a great mask for a whole bunch of averted disasters (self-inflicted of course). I don't photograph those ... lol
