I have the same skimmer and I'm curious about this too. I'm sure its possible but it depends on your DIY abilities. The pump is pretty small but the section for it seems to be based on the size. I think the size of the pump would be the biggest factor. You may find something that fits but it will probably have a similar flow rating.
A bigger pump may have too much flow and not provide the dwell time to allow the skimmer to work efficiently or it may cause the bubbles to burst rather than rise... Not an expert but larger pumps can cause problems. What is your situation/ purpose? If more air is your desire you may try drilling the volute air intake a bit larger. My 1220 seems to be a bit restricted at that point.
Skimmer was given to me and I'm running it on a 220 gallon total water volume. Just make to see if it was possible to do I guess. I'm a newer reefer and just thought maybe more HP give it more ump. Seems this skimmer could have so much more potential just seems under powered. Kinda what I mean is turning the outlet tube to make adjustments needs a big turn vs some other skimmers I seen which take tiny turns
