Anyone running their skimmers, I'm upgrading to a 100g rimless next month and wondering what people thought of these skimmers.

when they skim they seem to skim well.

some of the posts mention difficulty with tuning them after restarting. The TIA pumps are questionable at best and you could get more air with half the watts using a sicce driven skimmer. Their design looks solid but I would be hesitant to purchase because of the pumps they use.

thats what i was thinking...I currently run a Bubble Magus NAC-6 on my 75 with a 30 gal sump.

Im upgrading to a 100g with 40g sump and wondering if I should just bite the bullet and upgrade the skimmer

I wasnt really planning on upgrading but i saw someone bought this skimmer and it doesnt fit in their sump so they're selling it brand new in box for $160

I have the TIA-1220 running in my 100G tank. its always consistent with producing super nasty skimmate. runs completely silent and never had any issues with its quality. ive recommended to many people and they all like it alot.

the controls are very easy to use and once you set it, it holds its setting. one thing me and all my friends say is that its much more consistent and not finicky at all as compared to the octopus and bubble-magus.

i am having good luck with mine. no more start up issues than other skimmers i have had. only had a problem once in the last 12 months. pretty quiet as well. nasty skim mate!

Did you like the reef octpus NWB 200?

I was just comparing the two for a 180.

Reef Oct NWB 200 vs CAD 1220.

what is your opinion on it?
