Calc Reactors

What are some of the better calc reators people have used? I am tired of dosing finally and wasnt to move up to a reactor.

Any thoughts? Has to be able to run a 300 loaded tank.

I was dosing with B-ionic.

I'm using an MRC CR4 on a larger system (will be a combined 125, 120, 22, and 40B with 150, 100 and 50gal Rubbermaid tubs for filtration, etc.). I've had minor issues with it, but that can likely be attributed to it being my first Ca Rx. I'm bad about holding scheduled on dosing two (or three) part, too, so the reactor seemed like the best route. Getting them set initially is the fun part, then it is more maint checks to make sure it is still putting out enough/not too much based on growth and newer additions.

GEO is going to be one of the best. It is reverse flow so that media does not get packed into the reactor and cause the flow to stop. They have a pH probe port in the top of them so you can have your pH controller control the reactor. This will prove to be a much more accurate method of running a reactor than the bubble count/drip count method. I used one on my 225, and on my 210 in the past and was very pleased with the quality/workmanship of the unit as well as the performance and price.

I second the GEO my dad, luckyarbuc, uses one on his 240 with great results. I recently bought one for my tank haven't set it up yet though.

I reccomend the 6-24 for that size system. Do get a ph controller they make it alot eaiser to keep you parameters stable.

I'll chime in recommending the Geo also. I have a 618 running my 120 heavily stocked with SPS.

another thumbs up for geo. i have a 618 on my 90. after some minor dialing in, it's been running flawlessly for 18 months now.

Damn Steve! That's lookin' nice!

My 120 feels so new.....

I still need to hook up my Ca reactor, before the Frag Swap.

Next.... ask him about HIS "battery" back-up for electrical power.

...and I though I was out of control....

It's only 15.5kW
