Calcium Chloride Flakes

It might be fine, but only the older Dow Flake has been tested with lab instruments for safety. There's a fair number of people reporting success with the new Dow Flake.

That said, people generally are successful with this type of product.
 
Yeah always a case of ammonia or metals I see. I can get a 5 gallon bucket of BRS calcium chloride for 65 bucks. Just seeing if its worth the extra cost.
 
It is not that much extra. I bought my 50 pound sack for about $40. So if the BRS stuff lasts you a year you are only looking at about $2 a month more then the stuff from HD.
