Calcium is 500ppm....bad?

I've been cycling my 75g with live rock. I've also added some Purple Up to help get the coraline going. I got a test kit and it came out to 500ppm. Considering the ideal Ca is ~380-400, how bad is that? I'm thinking my IO salt must have some Ca in it because I don't think the amount of Purple Up I added would cause that much Ca.

500 is high, but nothing to be concerned about. It will fall on its own. The ideal range is a bit higher than you posted imo. I would go with 400-450. Also, you should ditch the purpleup. The product has been panned on the chemistry forum multiple times. It contains arogonite which does not disolve in seawater, and does not list all ingredients. Best never to add anything to the tank you can't test for. Get your magnesium level to 1300-1350, calcium at 425, and Alk at 8-10 dKH, and in time you will have more coraline than you know what to do with.
