Calcium reactor and Alk

If I am trying to increase my ALK and PH of my tank. Should I increase or decrease the amount coming out of effluent? I just can't wrap this around my head

To increase all you want more from the reactor. To increase pH you want less dissolved CO2 in the water so get some fresh air to the tank.
