I am getting back into the hobby after being out for a couple of years and starting a 20G Finnex M-Tank with the 150W HQI. I want to setup a tank that is purely SPS. I am aware that it takes time for a tank to establish for SPS and am in no rush, but I want to do it right. I want thoughts on the necessity of a calcium reactor for this size tank and also what models would work best. I have been scoping out the GEO 6x12 at premium and have been told this would be a great reactor. Is this overkill? My goals are:
- Easy daily maintenance in terms of keeping Ca, Alk, pH, etc in balance (my previous system required tedious daily dosing which is one of the reasons I got out of the hobby)
- Cost effectiveness (ie, will spending $500+ on a reactor truly be worthwile?)
- A clean, stable tank in which SPS can thrive
I know there are many other factors to supplement the above goals but I'm speaking strictly on the reactor. I want to set this up right and get the right equipment from the get go. Thanks in advance for your replies!
