i am getting ready to set up a new reactor to my tank. i have noticed that there are 3 different sizes of media available. fine, medium, and course. is the advantages or disadvatanges in the size media. which is best. thanks in advance for your help. fyi this for a knopp c reactor

of course it is Lee, this is the so cal forum. Richard. The course requires a lower ph to disolve the media. The smaller the particle the more surface area and easier to disolve. It the reactor is reverse flow I would recommend coarse.

I'm using a course media in my home made reactor. It's a reverse flow, 4" dia, 36" tall chamber. Seems to work good other than it took 5lbs just to fill it half way. :D

if water enters the reactor from the pump at or near the bottom of the reactor, you have a reverse flow.
