Calcium reactor or Balling ?

I have a 180 and I think the GEO 624 I think it was was rated for like a 300g. This thing is so nice and so beast it comes with a world renown pump that is super quiet and efficient. All you need is the GEO 624, Aquarium plants regulator, and a small feed pump that feeds water into the reactor, controller, and media. Thats it. Never mess with ca, kh, mg, again. Also they add other trace elements like stronium and other things as well. I have always used the ARM extra coarse and have my reactor set on 6.74-off at 6.75 (apex) and thats all she wrote.

edit: If you cheap out on the reactor and buy some crappy stuff you will regret it. Reactor and lights spend the $$ for everything else you can cheap out :)

Thanks dankreef :)

I will buy what you say... I definitely know not to buy cheap stuff... I have heard the Aquarium Plants Reg. is awesome :)

Thanks !

Forgot to ask a question, What do you mean by Controller ? Also forgot to list CO2 Tank.. haha

Guys,

Someone knows the owner of socaltropical fish ? I did an order there for a GEO 8 days ago but nobody answer the phone or email and I already paid.

Best Regards

There are a few ways to go with this. A controller can be as complex as an Apex which can control just about every piece of equipment on your tank or it can be as simple as a heater with a temperature monitor and controller. I believe there are stand alone PH controllers that basically turn the CO2 on and off based upon the Ph of the water.

Hmmm little confused... So they don't sell this with the reactor / or regulator...

The pH controller is not a 'necessary' part of the reactor. You can do the same thing by manually testing the effluent pH on a regular basis so that your bubble rate (which lower's pH) is balanced with your effluent rate (which is how the dissolved Ca gets into your tank). I did it that way for years but a controller makes it way easier.

My pleasure.

This is just a suggestion but I'd get the reactor set up and running before you run out of 2 part. Reactors are great for maintaining levels but are generally not used for increasing levels unless you are doing it very incrementally. I always keep some two part around (usually because my kH seems to get depleted a little faster than my Ca). You can use the solutions to adjust your parameters as needed.

Could be wrong but I think thats sexy corals store. PM him on the other site. You need a control to tell the c02 regulator (from ap) to turn on and off. If you have an Apex you can use that. Or you have to buy some gimpy controller that won't work as good lol. I've had the green milwakee one its crap but it works. & yes you need a tank :) get a 10lb.

Agree with the 10lbs tank. Don't agree that a controller is a 'must' although recommended. Whether you get a 'gimpy' stand alone controller or a full aquarium controller, the accuracy will largely be determined by the quality of the pH probe and how you calibrate it. As I mentioned, I ran a Korallin reactor for several years without a controller and didn't have issues. That said, now that I have my Geo on a controller, it's much easier to manage. I would say that the Aquarium Plants Electronic Carbon Doser (ie. electronic regulator) is more important for ease of use than the controller although opinions will (and almost always do) vary.

This is the one I'm looking at getting. I found one that is used. Just need a reg and Co2 tank :)

You guys think it will handle a 120 sps display tank with 75 g frag tank?

Be for I had my reactor on a controller I had major problems. The co 2 would build up in between the media and then the gas would let loose. It would continue to syphon even though the circ. Pump was Co 2 bound. So my pH would drop and drop until it turned the water into milk in the ca.then the water in the DT would do the same. This happened to me 3 times . It was Murphey law and it happened 2 times while I was out of town . The 3rd time I came home from work to witness it. May be it was the design of my reactor that it couldn't take that much gas and recirc it idk. All I know is ever since it has been on a controller I have never had that issue again.
