Calcium reactor question.

I just picked up a MTC pro reactor. I want to know if I can keep it about three feet from my sump. The run is parallel so there is no vertical lift. Will this work? Thanks

Calcium reactor question.

Good to know with it above your sump and any backflow issues?

I use a masterflex as my effluent pump so backflow is basically impossible as I have the pump on the output instead of the input.

Also the effluent line is not supposed to be submerged so backflow should never happen regardless.

Glad you mentioned that I will not submerge the affluent tube. Thanks

How are you planning to feed the reactor? Mine is a few feet from my sump, but I also use a Masterflex peri pump in pull mode. A superb unit, BTW. I've had mine for over 15 years.

That should work. It is a good idea to not submerge the end of the effluent tube, though in your case it wouldn't back siphon regardless as you have it set up as a closed loop essentially.

Another quick question does the vent line need to be by the sump. Or will anywhere it can get fresh air work?

Vent line is not for fresh air, it is to expel gasses that may buildup inside the unit. It should be positioned into the sump.
