Jeeper in my free time
Hey guys, i'm looking for some calerpa, I'd prefer fern or grape, but i'll take whatever you have. If you have some and are willing to hook me up let me know. I live in Rocklin and am willing to travel a little to get it.

Thanks

Just a FYI, grape macro aka Calaurpa racemosa is on the board for being illegal to own, trade or sell in California, although Im hearing some of the wholesellers blatantly disregard this and sell it to the unsuspected anyway. I believe the "feather" one you speek of is also on the prohibited in cali list as well. Sorry dont have the link, maybe someone else will post it.

Fish and Game wardens have already confiscated a shipment at one retail outlet and investigated one large shipment of the Caulerpa to a wholesale distributor. Violators face a civil penalty of up to $10,000 for each violation.

Pretty powerfull detterant right there:worried:

Good god, there go my plans for a calerpa forst tank! That really sucks, any other ideas on species that would have the same look and or effect as a lagoon look? That does make me a criminal then since my last reef had quite a population of calerpas. I guess thats what i get for taking down my last reef 2 years ago. I should have just kept it going, damn work!

Get some of this :D

Check out marineflora.com for macro. Sam is in Sac and he is the man you want to talk to if you want some nice macro.

Caulerpa prolifera isn't on the list of prohibited species. It is one species I have always liked the looks of.

It makes sense to have it illegal. I know that stuff always comes back in my tank. Very resilient.

BTW: Elite that pic is beautiful.

yes, I agree too. I had Caulerpa in a reef tank once and the stuff will take over. I actually used to harvest it out in big bunches and trade it for store credit at an LFS, I think they sold it in small bunches or something.
That red grape kelp or whatever its called in the pic above looks pretty cool!

in case you're wondering if that caulerpa in your tank is illegal--

http://www.sccat.net/banned_species.php

the species i have (i just pulled out around 3lbs yesterday morning) isn't on the list as banned but i wouldn't want to pass this sucker on to ANYONE. it really does take over your tank. i bought a foxface and it took him about three months to rid the tank of the majority of the macro.

(ignore the ugly tank-- it was supposed to be an 'in-between' upgrade tank)
