Calling all ACIII users

So who is using the controller for what it is designed to do?

From what I understand, most people are using wireless game routers to communicate/network the ACIII to their systems.

For those who are utilizing routers for their controllers, what are you using and how much did it cost you. I need to get my controller set up correctly and would prefer not spending another hundred bucks.

Also, who is using a designated power source for their controller to signal to your computer when your power goes out.

This is the achilles heel of the controller as I see it. You will need a way for the controller to transmit information to the computer to email/page or what ever contact method that you have set up with back up power for both the computer (most of us use these) and the controller.
Advice appreciated.

I got a wireless access point (Linksys)... cost ~$50-75 (don't recall exactly how much)... I also use a UPS powersupply as backup power to the ACIII and to the acceess point.

I also have UPS in my computer room for my router and my modem (DSL).

I have it setup to email my phone on power failure or paramters out of range....

I want to setup a water dector (for floods) and a level dector for low water to also alarm I just haven't gotten to doing this yet.

For me, the cheapest way was to just bite-the-bullet and run a wire. It took half a day of cable fishing and fiddling, but it was worth it.

I use 6AA batteries in a Radio Shack holder for the power backup. It works fine.

I keep a cheap UPS on my cable modem and router so the signal has a place to go.

With the AC3 or AC3PRO you don't have a PC running in order to get email alarms. If you want to receive email alerts from the AquaController that power has failed, then the controller, router, and DSL/cable modem should be on a backup UPS.

I have tried for ages to get mine working and now I cant even get the software to work. Way to complex and not at all user friendly. Not to mention the poor manuel.

Johnic,
First get you wireless game adapter configured correctly - follow the directions its manual. Once you can acces the game adapter web configuration screens, setting up the AC3's ethernet is the same as a wired connection. See http://www.neptunesys.com/hardwareFAQ.htm#ETHERNET for details.

laverda,
Give me a call 408-578-3022 when you are in front of your controller, and I'll help you get it going.
