tattooreef: I disagree. Each installation has its own needs, but many very high quality reef keepers are using Penductors for flow. Joseph Weatherson uses Penductors on his closed loops with virtually zero distance involved. I don't see any flesh peeling away in his tank.
The whole point of the eductor is to multiply flow. It's like getting 3 pumps for the price of one. Sure I wouldn't point one directly at a coral, but there are always positioning options. For instance, having one in each opposite corner pointing along the length or the tank will create a very nice flow pattern, especially when mixed with other types of flow devices.
