**CALLING ALL CLAM OWNERS**- What salinity do you keep your tank?

Just like the title says, I am interested what everybody has there salinity at and if any one has a species specific(clam only) tank please note it. Anybody keeping there tank at 1.032 or higher?

I have noticed that alot of clam facilities in the south pacific (Specifically Palau) have salinity levels ranging from 1.032-1.038:eek1: That seems extremely high to me considering the levels we keep our tanks at. My clam tank is at 1.025-1.026 and they do great. Most of the facilities use NSW pumped into there facility so that means the reefs over there are at very high a salinity. Intrested in any input you have

maybe not the reef's but tidal pools? ( produce these high levels ) i keep mine @ 1.026 and they seem happy.

how are they testing that salinity... mine is at 1.025, a lot of clam farms that I have read about use ocean water in a consistent turnover from the ocean, most are simply farms built onto the oceanfront very cheaply, so I don't know where that 1.032-1.038 thing came from, but I think it's very doubtful

Maybe you have 32 to 38 parts per thousand confused with a specific gravity of 1.XXX

Normal seawater is about 35-36ppt...

This is where the confusion came in. It seems like no one uses specific gravity when they right these bio papers. I guess thats what happens when your up at 2 in the morning reading about clam farming! Thanks for pointing that out.
