Calling all EuroReef/Sedra 3500 users!!

I just replaced my sedra 3500 in my EuroReef Skimmer. Brand new Sedra 3500 - exactly the same as my previous pump.
I plunk it in the Sump , it's making a very loud noise and then stops altogether.

Nothing different has changed since the original set up, depth is correct...cant figure out whats wrong....

Check the impeller, might have been damaged in transit...

everything looks fine....
When I plug it in out of the water it sounds like the impeller is bouncing around..but it's not broken.

Drop it into a bucket and see if it pumps fine without being hooked up to the skimmer.

It will sound like that outside of the water...

I put it in the sump not attached to the skimmer, and it still made the same loud noise - I was afraid to leave it plugged in too long.
It seems to be overheating - the magnet was hot when I took it out the first time.
