Calling all Tunze wavebox owners (sps tanks)

Now that the wavebox has been out a while, I'd like to get some feedback on the good and bad. Especially interested in 180 sps tanks. Thanks much!

On my 100gal too. This is ONE of the BEST investments I've made for my tank. 1 1/2 in. wave is awesome. You can't go wrong. Period.

yeah, see sig :)
2 6100s, 1 6200 and a 6000 with the controller. Dern LFS gave me a tab... kind of a good thing knid of a bad thing sometimes, lol

Holy crap, you are moving some water in that 100 gallon, your fish must be exhausted:eek1:

I have a 6 ft. 125 with a box and two 6100's controlled by the multi 7095. I have the box cranked all the way down and it makes a nice .5 inch wave. I love to add fish/coral food to the box and it circulates it nicely. Only draw back IMO is the sloshing noise it makes IF you have a high wave w/overflows.

I have a Wavebox with two 6100 in a 6ft long 220. The Wavebox is the 3rd most well spent money on my system after the streams and the osmolator.

The only downside I have seen to the wavebox is the massive polyp extension is causes. I have one coral that use to be very colorful but now all you see are its brown polyps.

ok im gonna go ahead and bite the bullet and ask, how do tunze wave boxes work? ive seen pics of them and they look like..well......black boxes. i have a 6100 on a controller but dont understand how the box work and were the streams work with it.

Do you guys get any splashing from the waves? Just curious how a 1.5" wave crashes on other side and doesnt affect light reflectors or come out of tank.

The box works by forcefully pumping water out of the box and then on the off cycle water gets drawn into the now off pump intake. Physics. There now is a lesser amount of water in the box so the aquarium water wants to fill that void in the black box. When the aquarium water fills the black box the pump kicks back on again and the whole cycle starts over again. Beautiful.

I have no SPLASH with a 1.5 wave. I just lower the water level in the tank. I get no SLOSH effect either. My overflow is on the same side as the box. They say a middle overflow works best.

Are any of you running a wavebox on a glass tank. I really want to do this but I'm not sure that the tank can handle the added pressure.

Are the waves adjustable? I remember seeing the video from Tunze where they were demo'ing the wavebox and the back and forth motion was soooo fast that it seemed it would make ya sick looking at it for long.

I have a Oceanic tank and have seen no problems. Tunze does state that using the wavebox will decrease the life of the tank by 15 percent.

Yes they're adjustable.. And that motion statement sounds like my girlfriend talking.

Is everyone mounting these at one end of the tank?

Since the box is kind of an eyesore I was thinking of mounting it on the center of the back wall with a little rockwork to hide it. Would you still get the wave effect?

I have the box with 2 6100 on a 6' ~210G tank.
The streams are awsome.
The box is nice, it has a problem in the bottom part , in the angle , very near the output of the pump, when the pumps shoots, this part slightly opens.

Im going to add 2x turbelle pumps for this sytem, the Turbelle will shoot on the surface, the streams in the mid lower part and the box in the mid.
that would be perfect!
