I am shopping around for a nice digital camera for the wife for x-mas but I am certainly NOT in the camera know. I hear "cyber Monday" would be a good time to purchase such a toy so I am opening the floor to those with experience and knowledge on the topic. Here is what I need in functionality of the camera:
"¢Good quality pics, mainly for still frames and family pics
"¢Decent to good quality video capturing
"¢Would be nice if it could take decent to good tank shots also
"¢Ideally, would like to keep budget under $300

Side note: Anyone have additional recommendation for a decent to good GPS deal?

Thanks for your time and help in advance!!

for a little over $300 look at the Canon "S" series. I have the S90 but I think there is an S95 now. Love it. Great for macro and it shoots RAW too. Good video too. Wide, but lacks a little zoom. Worthy tradeoff for me to get the quality, low noise, and RAW.

I am no camera expert but I have had 3 Canon's (2 P+S and 1 Digital SLR) and I absolutely love the quality of the pictures. My best friend has a Nikon and it is great, but I am partial to Canon...with a $300 budget the "S" series might be the way to go.

Or maybe look for a Digital SLR used somewhere
