Calling RedSea magnesium users!

Incorrect Mg powder:

It has come to my attention that the magnesium powders when mixed into a solution are not capable of the concentration stated, they are only about 60% of the concentration, hence a very large difference.

This means that the solutions will be used up more readily than they should and you would have to buy more powder to make up for the lacking in concentration.

After RedSea constantly stating our mixing procedure is incorrect, we have re mixed to the exact method (stated by their tech. support manager) and documented this mixing (text and pictures), however the product still falls short at about 60% of the concentration, yet this is still denied. This is why we need YOUR help, to show whether there is an issue or not.

I realise that the majority of reefers have trust in the manufacturer that the product does what it says on the pot, however our experiences have shown otherwise.

So I would be very grateful if you could take your time to test your magnesium solutions mixed from the powders. To determine whether the product is what it says it is.

The test is:

Mix 10ml of your Mg solution with 990ml or RO/RODI water and mix thoroughly.

Then using an accurate test kit, measure the solution. You should expect to see a reading of 1000ppm +/- 20ppm.

If the solution doesn't even register on the test kit, then the solution is far lower that what it should be.

Once you have done this test, could you please post your results here, and/or use this webpage:

http://www.redseafish.com/index.aspx?id=4421
to tell RedSea directly of the faulty powder.

Many thanks for reading and your involvement would be great!
