Calsium/alk question

God of thunder

Peoble always told me that my calsium was too high 490 ppm.
I was also told that i needed to rais my alk level which was low, very low at the time. now i´ve raised the alk to 3.9 meq/l
Is it a problem that the calsium is that high?

That level of calcium doesn't seem to cause animals any troubles, from what I can tell. The tank might have more abiotic precipitation with calcium that high, which would waste a bit of supplement, but that's probably the worst case. I'd probably let calcium drop, though, on general principles of caution.

That's a good question. First of all, sometimes, test kits aren't accurate, so a second opinion might help. Also, what's been dosed into the tank, and what salt product (if any) is being used?

I used to dose iodine, strontium, coral grow and buffer, not any more though, o don´t dose any thing, exept i dosed baking soda to rais my alk

Well, the calcium should drop on its own, if alkalinity is kept up, and the salt mix isn't high in calcium. I'd just wait and see.
