Anyone out there using a camera link to their Apex? If so which one are you using?

Also what is your link so we can take a look...

I bought this one a few months ago. It works great with its supplied software. I can't say how well it works with Apex though since I don't have that hooked up yet.

If you get it integrated with the Apex let me know how you did it. I have the same foscam and I haven't been able to do it yet.

You bet. I'll let you know. It will likely be a few months from now at the earliest. I'm not planning on hooking up the APEX until I get my 180 gallon running. I'm still in the planning stages on that build although most of the equipment including the APEX has been purchased.

Weird coincidence I am also doing a 180 build. Probably won't be wet till late December or January. Is there a specific build thread you are modeling after?

That is a coincidence. To me, the 180 is a nice footprint if you want to start to go big but can't quite afford to go really big properly!

I'm not modeling after anyone's style although I've probably read nearly every build thread on the Large Tanks subforum. The one aspect that will make my build a bit unique is that I'm planning a basement sump/refugium/frag tanks/water change system/phyto-pod culture system that will be in the ball park of 250 to 300 gallons once I'm done in addition to the 180 dt upstairs. My total system water volume should be around 450+ gallons all plumbed together.

I've already purchased the tank, sand, stand, return pumps, powerheads, heaters, lights, external protein skimmer, apex, doser, 150 gallon Rubbermaid trough, 55 gallon plastic storage containers, plumbing parts and some other stuff I'm sure that I've forgotten. I've also been curing approximately 300 pounds of pukani, reef saver, and Tonga rock in the basement for the past 4 months. Once I've finalized my plans and am ready to start knocking some holes through my house, my build should move pretty fast.

Were you looking at any builds in particular that you were modeling after?

Thats a great thread. I am following it too. My sump system is definitely not going to look as pretty as his!

I've been saving the pics of any great aquascaping that I come across. Things I can look at later for inspiration when it comes time to put mine together. I have some of the marco rocks cement, nylon rods, and a few tubes of epoxy. Whatever design I wind up with, it's going to be joined together solidly. One thing that I learned from my first tank, I never again want to rely upon just stacking rocks to keep them where they are supposed to be.

I am just taking notes from different build threads. I am mostly concerned with aquascaping research right now but I am looking into sump set ups. One thread I like right now is: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2519090
I love this guys sump and everything he did with the plumbing. I also like the lighting under the tank.

Check our drummerreef's thread. He's local and has an unbelievable equipment room setup. I stole a bunch of his ideas.

I've seen his thread and read through it a bit, but I didn't go through it in detail. I will now. I didn't realize that he was local.
