I'm looking to get a much better camera soon. Someone has a Cannon D 10 for sale for $500.00 its just the body of the camera and no lens. Is that a good deal? Is it a good camera?

Good camera, yes. Price seems a bit high, though. You can pick up a Rebel XT for just about that price, if I recall correctly, and it's several years and form functions newer.

I've seen people selling a used XT w/kit lens for around $400, $535 seems high. Where are you getting these prices from?

Off of e-bay I'm just getting some idea. I think after reading up I will go with a new one the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi package with 3 lens.

Victoria,

It'd be in you best interest to post the package that you're looking at. An awful lot of those "package deals" aren't really much of a deal. They almost always consist of stuff that you probably don't want.

;)

I think he's saying that a lot of the packages tend to be filled with all sorts of BS you'll never use, but it makes the package look "fatter." Often times, you can pick out the small assortment of items you'll actually use, but just those, and save even more money.

I not sure if I would use all the stuff. How would I know? There are 3 lens in the package 1) 28mmx70 , 2) 90mmx300, 3) wideangle. And then stuff like a tripod, case, filters, digital flash, 2GB card. And a few other odds and ends. Do you think I would use these things? I think I would. I would like to add a macro lens in the future. Does this sound like a good package? Or do you think I would be better off just getting the body and maybe 2 lens?

I think that'd if I were in your shoes I'd just buy the standard Rebel XT with the kit lens and then buy a 100 f/2.8 macro.

Those lenses included in your deal are cheap 3rd party items. In terms of image quality, the lens is more important than the camera body.

Thanks so much, you have been a great help. I does make since to do it that way. Beside I really wanted the macro lens!

No problem.

You should also make sure that you check out the seller at resellerratings.com There seem to be a very large number of slimey folks in the camera business.
